Edited Footage Shot review

Take screen grab of whole edit:

Choose six stills and review what works or not and why:

1. 00:25
This shot is good because it shows a good perspective of the drone and Chad, the main character. This is the first main shot that shows how far away and how high the drone is, which is animated realistically. The only issue is that the colours are too bright, not showing the contrast between characters as the perspective of Chad is meant to be dark to show fear.

2. 00:20
This shot is good because I used a recording overlay and tinted the image to show the perspective of the drones camera. This also makes the viewer feel more involved and engaged with the characters. This shot is slightly too long, and you can hear a faint 'action' in the background.

3. 00:40
This shot is good because it's very stable, even though I was holding the camera. I managed stand far away and zoom in on Chad, and blurred out the background slightly to give a sense of suspense. You can hear a voice in the background of this shot, so I will edit that out.

4. 01:10
This shot is very shaky and unstable. I will try my best to stabilise the footage, however, I might leave it in to add more of a connection to the viewer as they feel they are with Chad in the action.

5. 02:47
The overall title sequence is edited with a lot of detail, and this shot in particular shows the 3D effect I used for the text. However, I will make the music slightly louder as it's slightly too quiet as compared to everything else.

6. 03:25
This is my matte painting, and I like it because of the animations with the flock of birds and clouds moving in the background. However, the grass isn't blowing in the wind, and looks too fake. To fix this I will make sure that it's moving as the file I used is a green screen video but must have had a setting applied to stop it from animating.

Changes I need to make:

  • Tone down the colour and brightness in some shots
  • Cut some shots that are too long
  • Edit out some voices that are heard in the background very faintly
  • Some shots are unintentionally shaky, so I will stabilise the footage
  • I will turn up the music in the title sequence slightly
  • I will find a grass green screen template for the matte painting
